Growth response of garlic (Allium sativum L.) by using organic and inorganic nitrogen sources in Jalandhar, Punjab
Kajal and Nalini Singh
The research was carried out at the horticultural field, Department of Agriculture, Sant Baba Bhag Singh University, Khiala, Jalandhar during Rabi season 2023-24. The experiment was laid out in a Randomized Block Design with nine treatments and three replications. The findings revealed that among the various sources of organic and inorganic nitrogen applied, the plant height at 180 DAS in T4 -75% RDN through FYM + 25% RDN through urea showed significantly highest 82.06 cm and minimum in T0 is 70.22. The maximum numbers of leaves per plant 12.9 and lowest 9.06 and a leaves length of highest 61.76 cm and minimize 53.70 cm in T4 and T0 respectively. The Data of different treatments revealed that there was significant influence of different nitrogenous fertilizers and manures on the days to maturity of garlic bulb. It was noticed that application of 75% RDN through FYM +25% through urea (T4) was recorded the earliest to maturity (197.00 days) and late maturity 212.33 in T0. The research gap on finding of inorganic and organic sources of nutrients should be used in combination for improved biometric observations, viz. maturity of bulb.
