Abstract:

The current investigation on “Studies on effect of Bacillus subtilis on rice seedling growth in Hoagland solution” was carried out University of Agricultural Sciences (UAS), Raichur. The main objectives of the investigation include the evaluation of rice genotypes for their interaction with Bacillus subtilis for yield and yield-related traits and effect of B. subtilis on induced systemic resistance (ISR) in rice plants by triggering genes. The phenotypic growth (shoot and root)-related responses of rice plants to B. subtilis inoculation in Hoagland’s solution was studied. Twenty selected genotypes including six popular varieties viz., Gangavathi Sona, MTU-1010, BPT-5204, RNR 15048, IR-64 and GNV-1089 from ARS, Gangavati constituted the experimental material for the current investigation conducted in RBD design with two replications. The effect of B. subtilis on the advance of root and shoot length of rice seedlings in Hoagland’s solution has been studied under laboratory conditions. Treated Gangavathi sona and MTU 1010 genotypes exhibited a rapid upsurge in seedling growth than untreated seedlings in Hoagland’s solution. The twenty B. subtilis treated genotypes have shown a positive effect on the growth of root and shoot length compared to untreated seedlings in Hoagland’s solution.
