The field experiment entitled “Effect of NPK on growth, yield and quality of drumstick” was conducted at Chilli and Vegetable Research Unit, Dr. Panjabrao Deshmukh Krushi Vidyapeeth, Akola, during kharif season of year 2024-25. The objective was to study the, effect of nitrogen, phosphorous and potassium on growth, yield and quality of drumstick under Akola conditions and to find out optimum dose of NPK for growth, yield and quality of drumstick. The experiment was conducted in Randomized Block Design (RBD) with three replication and eight treatments. During the period of experiment, the observations were recorded on the various parameters viz, plant height (m), number of branches per plant, days to initiation of first flower, days to first harvest, number of pods per plant, pod yield per plant (kg), pod yield per hectare (t), average weight of pod (g), pod girth (cm), pod length (cm), availability of NPK in soil and total plant uptake during the period of investigation. The results showed that, application of 300:150:150 g NPK plant-1 recorded significantly maximum plant height, number of branches and pod length. The early flowering and minimum days required to get first harvest were recorded due to application of 250:137.5:137.5 g NPK plant-1. The maximum number of pods, pod yield per plant (6.9 kg), pod yield per hectare (4.39 t) and average weight of pod (60.45 g) registered due to application of 250:137.5:137.5 g NPK plant-1. Availability of NPK was found maximum due to 300:150:150 g plant-1 dose of NPK. The total plant uptake and benefit cost ratio were also found maximum with application of 250:137.5:137.5 g NPK plant-1 as compared to control treatment.
