Abstract:

The field experiment was carried out during Rabi season of 2024, at crop research farm of Department of Agronomy at Sam Higginbottom University of Agriculture, Technology and Sciences, Prayagraj (U.P.) India. The experiment was entitled as “Effect of Nitrogen and Spacing on Growth and Yield of Buckwheat (Fagopyrum esculentum L.)”. The experiment was laid out in randomized block design (RBD) which consisted of nine treatment and replicated thrice viz. T1: 30:20:20 NPK kg/ha along with 20 × 15 cm, T2: 30:20:20 NPK kg/ha along with 30 × 15 cm, T3: 30:20:20 NPK kg/ha along with 40 × 15 cm, T4: 40:20:20 NPK kg/ha along with 20 × 15 cm, T5: 40:20:20 NPK kg/ha along with 30 × 15 cm, T6: 40:20:20 NPK kg/ha along with 40 × 15 cm, T7: 50:20:20 NPK kg/ha along with 20 × 15 cm, T8: 50:20:20 NPK kg/ha along with 30 × 15 cm, T9: 50:20:20 NPK kg/ha along with 40 × 15 cm. The results revealed that the significantly higher plant height (81.16 cm), higher plant dry weight (21.69 g/plant), higher no of achenes/plant (52.87), higher seed yield (1.20 t/ha) and higher stover yield (2.98 t/ha) were recorded under treatment 8 [50:20:20 NPK kg/ha along with 30 × 15 cm]. Higher gross return (146983.33 INR/ha), higher net return (107861.38 INR/ha) and higher B : C ratio (2.76) were also recorded under treatment 8 with the application of [50:20:20 NPK kg/ha along with 30 × 15 cm].
