Abstract:

The present study was carried out to examine the adoption behaviour and determinants of BDNGK-798 chickpea variety in Parbhani district of Maharashtra. A multistage sampling method was used to select adopters and non-adopters, and primary data were collected through a structured interview schedule. The results of logistic regression revealed that income and chemical fertilizer use significantly influenced adoption at the 1% level, while age and education were not statistically significant. Adopters achieved a higher yield of 19.43 q/ha with net returns of Rs. 36,347/ha, compared to 14.63 q/ha yield and Rs. 15,986/ha returns for non-adopters. The study concludes that strengthening access to quality inputs, credit facilities and extension services can enhance adoption and productivity of BDNGK-798 in the region.
