Improvement in existing farming systems of small and marginal farmers through diversification for sustainability

Abstract:

An experiment entitled “Improvement in existing farming systems of small and marginal farmers through diversification for sustainability” was carried out during 2022-23 & 2024-25 for three years on thirty six farmer’s field in Karanja (Ghadge) & Ashti tehsil in Wardha district of Maharashtra state with object to enhance productivity, profitability, improve livelihood, nutritional security and employment generation. During third year after intervention in existing and diversification in different component of farming system Field crop + Horticulture + Livestock farming system recorded highest net return of Rs. 4,02,536 per annum per house hold which was Rs 2,14,403 more over the benchmark value. Whereas, second highest net return of Rs 2,49,094 per annum per house hold was recorded by Field crop + Livestock farming system which was Rs 1,69,638 more over the benchmark value.
