Effect of NPK with foliar application of PDKV grade II micronutrients on growth and yield of cauliflower

Abstract:

Cauliflower (Brassica oleracea var. botrytis L.) is a prominent member of the cole group of vegetables and it is widely cultivated for its high yield. To ensure good yield, it requires sufficient macronutrients and micronutrients. Hence the study was conducted to evaluate the “Effect of NPK With Foliar Application of PDKV Grade II Micronutrients on Growth and Yield of Cauliflower” field experiment was carried out during Rabi season of 2023-24 at Instructional Farm, Department of Vegetable Science. The experiment was laid out in RBD comprising of 07 and each treatment replicated thrice to study effect of NPK with foliar application of PDKV grade II micronutrients on growth and yield of cauliflower and to find out the suitable doses of NPK and micronutrients for better growth and yield of cauliflower. The observation recorded for vegetative growth in terms of plant height (cm), number of leaves per plant, leaf length (cm), leaf width (cm), stem length (cm), stem diameter (cm), yield parameters viz. days for curd initiation, days for curd maturity, curd diameter (cm), curd depth (cm), curd weight (g), curd yield per plot (kg), curd yield per hectare (q ha-1). Analysis of results showed that T6(125% RDF + PDKV-MG-II Spray at 15, 35 & 55 DAT) exhibited maximum growth parameters, including like plant height (57.67cm), number of leaves per plant (18.60), leaf length (46.63 cm), leaf width (22.43cm), stem length (8.65 cm) and stem diameter (6.33 cm). Regarding yield and yield attributing characteristics, minimum days required for curd initiation (56.23), minimum days for curd maturity (75.13), curd diameter (17.63 cm), curd depth (11.37 cm), curd weight (744.03 g), curd yield per plot (29.35 kg) and curd yield per hectare (320.90 q ha-1) observed in T6.
