The present study was undertaken to evaluate the analgesic and anti-inflammatory properties of medicinal plant Pongamia pinnata. A total of 60 numbers of Wistar albino mice and 30 numbers of rats weighing 120-150 gm were divided into five groups containing six animals per group. Hydro-ethanolic (H/E) and chloroform (C/H) extracts were prepared from the seed of the plant Pongamia pinnata. Plant extracts were administered orally at 100 mg, 300 mg and 900 mg/kg. Observations were compared with the control and treated group. Results of the present study revealed that writhing responses in acetic acid induced model were reduced significantly in the treated group and vice versa with pain threshold level of analgesic model. On the other hand paw inflammation were significantly reduced with treatment of plant extract in carrageenan induced inflammation model.
