Abstract:

A field experiment was conducted biennial year i. e. 2011-12 and 2012-13 at M. E. S., Faizabad in randomized block design (R.B.D.) with three replication using one variety and 9 germplasm. Two years mean data revealed that NDH-8 recorded highest plant height (109.82 cm), yield of rhizome/plant (304.46 g) and essential oil content (8.20%). Maximum oleoresin content was found 13.20 percent in NDH-8. Highest total mineral content was recorded in NDH-7 (5.21%) followed by NDH-8 (5.19%) and NDH-1 (5.04%). Maximum curcumin content was found in NDH-1 (5.85 g/100 g) followed by NDH-7 and Prabha.

In the light of reviewing physical characteristics and biochemical composition NDH-8 and NDH-1 are recommended as a promising turmeric cultivar.
