Abstract:

One seventy five test crosses were made by using 22 CGMS lines having five types cytoplasm source with 103 advanced rice lines during Kharif, 2021 & were evaluated for identification of component lines (maintainers & restorer lines) in rice during Rabi, 2021-22. Out of 175 F1s, 14 and 24 cross combinations were found completely fertile and completely sterile, respectively. In this study, among all the advanced rice lines, RR 25, RR 80, RR 38, RR 54, RR 45, RR 87 & MS 4334 were identified as best restorers for RTN2A, RTN 6A, RTN 8A, RTN 11A, RTN 15A, RTN 16A and RTN 17A, respectively. Also two (RR 24 & RR 67) for RTN 14A, three (BF 4650 MS 4336 & RR 72) for RTN 18A & two restorers (BF 4650 & RR 92) for IR 58025A were found for respective CMS lines. The result showed, IRRI 20, RR 32, RR39, IRRI 62, RR 21, IRRI 20 and MS 4341 were identified as maintainer for RTN 5A, RTN 6A, RTN 10A, RTN 11A, RTN 13A, RTN 16A and RTN 17A, respectively. Two CMS lines (RTN 3A and RTN 18A) were maintained by single rice genotype (Amba Pandhri). Also, RTN 1A two (IRRI 51, RR 2); RTN 7A two (RR 74, RR 40); RTN 14A five (RR 14, RR 36, BR 9, BR 3, BR 2); RTN 15A three (RR 26, RR 72, RR 4) & IR 58025A (Sorty red, BF 4616, MS 4326) was maintained by identified new maintainers for respective CMS lines. Newly identified maintainers will be used for development of diverse cyto-sterile lines and restores will be utilized for development of high yielding, biotic and abiotic stress tolerant hybrids in various segment of grain type for commercial cultivation.
