Abstract:

A field experiment was conducted at Instructional Farm, College of Agriculture, Junagadh Agricultural University, Junagadh during Kharif, 2023 to investigate the bio-efficacy of chemical insecticides against spotted pod borer, Maruca testulalis (Geyer) infesting green gram. Of the eight insecticides evaluated against M. testulalis, the treatment of Broflanilide 300 g/l SC @ 0.004% recorded the lowest (1.49 larvae/plant), which was statistically at par with Spinetoram 11.7 SC @ 0.011% (1.66 larvae/plant) after 3 days of the first spray. A similar trend was observed after 7, 10 and 14 days of the first spray as well as 3, 7, 10 and 14 days after the second spray. The highest (1358 kg/ha) grain yield of green gram was produced in the treatment of Broflanilide 300 g/l SC @ 0.004% which was statistically at par with Spinetoram 11.7 SC @ 0.011%, which produced 1311 kg/ha grain yield. Looking to the ICBR, the treatment of Emamectin benzoate 1.9 EC @ 0.001% noted the highest (1:10.79) ICBR followed by Broflanilide 300 g/l SC @ 0.004% (1:10.04).
