Abstract:

The objective of this study was to evaluate the effect of feeding cauliflower leaf meal (CLM) on haematological parameter and economics of production of goats. Fifteen male non-descript goat kids (6-8 months of age) were divided equally into three groups (T0, T1 and T2). T0 group was fed with basal diet and T1 and T2 group fed with 20 and 30% CLM in concentrate mixture for 120 days. On 0th, 60th and 120th day, blood was collected to study the hematology parameter. At the end of the trial, economics of production was calculated by considering the prices of all the ingredients of diet. The RBC, WBC, MCV and MCH levels were comparable among all groups of goats. However, the cost of production was significantly (p<0.05) lower in T1 (Rs. 20.07) and T2 (Rs. 42.36) group of goat. Therefore, it may be concluded from the results of the study that the 20-30% CLM in concentrate mixture reduces the cost of production of goats which is affordable feeding strategy for farmers.
