Abstract:

The PVK-801 sorghum genotype was used as the experimental material for this study. During Kharif 2019, the study was conducted at the Department of Agricultural Botany's experimental Research Farm at VNMKV, Parbhani. Entitled "Study of genetic variability induced through mutation in Kharif sorghum [Sorghum bicolour (L.) Moench] M2 generation". Seeds were irradiated with varying doses of gamma rays and EMS (10 kR, 20 kR, 30 kR, 40 kR, 10 kR + 0.2% EMS, 20 kR + 0.2% EMS, 30 kR + 0.2% EMS, and 40 kR + 0.2% EMS) in combination with 0.2% EMS of PVK-801 genotype. Among the M2 generation, genetic diversity was significant for both yield and yield-contributing characteristics. For the majority of the characters, the results showed comparatively better mean performance in treatment 20 kR + 0.2% EMS dosage.
