Abstract:

The effect of polyethylene glycol-6000 induced water deficit stress (drought) and thiourea soaked seed followed by drought treatments on various physiological, biochemical parameters, antioxidant enzymes in leaf of 20 days old wheat seedlings of GW-496 variety. The physiological parameters mainly relative water content were the highest in Th3P1 (500 ppm Thiourea + 15% PEG). So, thiourea @ 500 ppm under 15% stress of PEG was effective in this case. The hydrogen peroxide content were the lowest as a result of thiourea @ 500 ppm under 15% PEG water stress. In case of catalase and SOD enzymes thiourea @ 200 ppm under 20% PEG stress was effective as the same were higher as a result of this treatment.
