Abstract:

Aquaculture plays an vital role in ensuring global food security. Of the 795 million people, or roughly one in nine, are affected by hunger and malnutrition. Aquaculture industry is expanding day by day which leads to high demand of protein sources for feed preparation. By 2025, it is estimated that 73.15 million tons of aquafeed will be needed to meet the estimated levels of production of fed species. The unconventional plant ingredients are rich in protein and energy, making them potential substitutes for traditional feed sources for major carpsClick or tap here to enter text..The objectives of this study were to assess the potential impacts of various feed combinations on the growth performance of fingerlings. Feed ingredients are combined to form the mixture according to different treatments with the major ingredients being Soyabean, Groundnut, Rice polish, Wheat bran and Rice bran. All the feed combination were found to have more growth promoting effect in comparison to control. Various water quality parameters (Table 7) like dissolved oxygen, salinity, TDS, pH, ammonia, nitrate, alkalinity and hardness were measured periodically and were found within optimum range.
