Abstract:

The advancements in nanotechnology offer exciting opportunities for its integration into medicinal and nutritional sciences, due to its minute size and larger surface area. In the realm of animal healthcare, nanotechnology is proving its importance in the diagnosis, prevention, and vaccination of various diseases. Recently, a variety of nanoparticles; such as nano-minerals, enzyme nanoparticles, probiotics, vitamins, feed additives, nano capsules, and feed antimicrobials, have been incorporated into animal feeds. The use of these nanoparticles supports a healthier gut, enhancing health and overall animal performance. This enhancement can be linked to improved nutrient absorption and utilization, which ultimately translates to increased production levels and better-quality milk, meat, and eggs. But it is essential to determine appropriate dose limits to prevent the risks associated with over-supplementation. This review emphasizes the crucial role of nanotechnology in optimizing both animal health and productivity.
