Abstract:

A research experiment was conducted to evaluate the seasonal incidence and bioefficacy of different insecticides against sesame leaf webber, Antigastra catalaunalis Duponchel under field conditions at Instructional farm, Department of Agronomy, College of Agriculture, Junagadh Agricultural University, Junagadh during Kharif, 2021. The population of leaf webber (0.62 larva/plant) was commenced in 32nd SMW. Thereafter, the pest population increased rapidly and attend its peak at 37th SMW i.e. 2.58 larva/plant. The leaf webber population had a significant negative correlation with maximum temperature (r = -0.546*) while morning relative humidity (r = 0.782**), evening relative humidity (r = 0.721**), minimum temperature (r = 0.597*) and rainfall (r = 0.660*) had significant positive correlation with pest population. The bright sunshine hours (r = -0.431) having non-significant negative correlation with pest population. Total nine insecticides were evaluated against the pest as a foliar application. The data revealed that the maximum pest reduction over control i.e. 73.07 per cent and lowest pest population (0.46 larva/plant), flower (1.13%) and capsule damage (2.10%) along with the highest seed yield (692 kg/ha) and net monetary return ₹ 40710/ha was documented in chlorantraniliprole 18.5 SC @ 0.005% treated plot. Thereafter, treatment of spinosad 45 SC @ 0.0003% and chlorfenapyr 10 SC @ 0.015% were found statistically at par with chlorantraniliprole 18.5 SC @ 0.005% with 68.50 and 60.08 per cent larval reduction over control, 678 and 670 kg/ha seed yield and net monetary return ₹ 39100/ha and ₹ 38180/ha, respectively.
