Abstract:
The nutrient content in the soil is the major influencer of plant growth and yield as well as growth of weeds and their competition with the plants for available resources. The influence of these long-term usage of fertilizers on the growth and yield of finger millet crop has not been well established with that objective the present study Influence of long-term fertilizer trails on the growth yield of finger millet under the influence of weeds was conducted at AICRP on Long Term Fertilizer Experiment (LTFE), University of Agricultural Sciences, GKVK, Bangalore during kharif 2020. The experiment consisted eleven treatments consisted of different sources and levels of major nutrients under randomized complete block design. The results revealed that, application of 150% NPK recorded significantly higher growth attributes like plant height (95.4 cm), number of leaves (22.1), leaf area (781.17 cm2 plant-`1) and number of tillers (6.31) at harvest which resulted in higher grain yield (2611 kg ha-1), straw yield (3729 kg ha-1). Management of fertilizers plays a very important role on the growth and yield as well as weed management under the long-term management which will be beneficial foe efficient utilization of nutrients by the crops.
