Abstract:
The Field screening were carried out for evaluation of some local and AVT (38 advanced varietal trail) rice genotypes compared with resistant and susceptible check, against paddy caseworm, Nymphula depunctalis at the Agriculture College V. C. Farm Mandya, during late Summer 2021. The mean percent leaf damage by paddy caseworm on different genotypes was evaluated at 30 and 45 days after transplanting (DAT) in one season and these screened AVT genotypes were categorized into resistant or susceptible based on the standard evaluation system for rice (SES-IRRI). Out of 38 AVT genotypes 5 AVT genotypes i.e., GMS-1, AVT-IM-4, Bili halaga, MO-21 and AVT-IM-17 were reacted as resistant by recording (0.54-0.80) up-to 1 percent of leaf damage, 21 genotypes showed moderately resistant reaction by recording (0.54-0.80) 1-10 percent leaf damage, 10 genotypes reacted as moderately susceptible with 11.92-16.14 (11-25% leaf damage), and two genotypes i.e., Nattijaddu and AVT-IM-6 have shown susceptible reaction with 28.57-31.10 (26-50) percent leaf damage. None of the local and AVT rice genotypes found highly resistant or highly susceptible against the paddy caseworm N. depunctalis.
