Abstract:
The study aimed to evaluate the effect of potato dextrose broth (PDB) on biomass production of different Ganoderma isolates collected from coconut and other related hosts in southern Karnataka. The effect of PDB was investigated in the submerged flask where the incubation was carried out at 27 ± 2 °C. The results revealed that, the yield of mycelial biomass (dry weight basis) in potato dextrose broth after 15 days were significantly different. Dry mycelial weight was significantly higher (1.90 g) in MGC-10 isolate and lowest dry mycelial weight (1.01 g) was observed in MGC-3 isolate collected from the coconut host. Similarly, out of other related hosts, highest dry mycelial weight (1.88 g) was recorded in MGO-8 isolate obtained from the eucalyptus host and lowest dry mycelial weight (1.37 g) was observed in MGO-9 isolate from jackfruit host.
