Abstract:
A field experiment was conducted during Rabi 2023 at Crop Research Farm, Department of Agronomy, SHUATS, Prayagraj (U.P) on the topic “Effect of Zinc and Sulphur level on growth and yield of Chickpea (Cicer arietinum L.)”, to study treatments consisting of three levels of Zinc viz. 5, 10 and 15 kg/ha and three levels of Sulphur viz. 15, 20 and 30 kg/ha. The soil of experimental plot was sandy loam in texture, nearly neutral in soil reaction (pH 7.5), low in organic carbon (0.25%), available N (183.8 kg/ha), available P (10.5 kg/ha) and available K (186 kg/ha). There were 10 treatments each being replicated thrice and laid out in Randomized Block Design. The results revealed that treatment 9 (Zinc -15 kg/ha + Sulphur - 30 kg/ha) recorded significantly higher plant height (67.87 cm), Number of Nodules/plant (75.13), plant dry weight (61.35 g) and Number of pods/plant (27.60), Number of seeds/pod (2.00), test weight (116.62 g), seed yield (1870.68 kg/ha) and stover yield (3533 kg/ha). compared to other treatments.
