Abstract:

The current research was performed at the experimental farm of All India Co-ordinated Research Project on Safflower, Vasantrao Naik Marathwada Krishi Vidyapeeth, Parbhani. (M.S.), during rabi, 2023-24. In M5 generation, forty selected progenies from M4 generation along with four standard checks, namely PBNS-12, PBNS-86, ISF-1, and Sharda were assessed in randomised block design. Positive direct effects were exhibited for days to maturity, number of capitula per plant, number of seeds per capitulum, 100-seed weight and hull content. Negative direct effects were observed for days to 50% flowering, plant height, number of primary branches per plant and volume weight. 1qTherefore, improvement of the seed yield will be efficient via selection for days to maturity, number of capitula per plant, number of seeds per capitulum, 100-seed weight and hull content.
