Abstract:

The experiment was conducted in the year 2020-2021 to assess seed production practices impair with different seed vigour levels, and to develop the steps necessary to improve the vigour status of seed lots in redgram. The 29 seed lots of redgram varieties TS-3R and GRG-811 were collected from Seed Unit, UAS, Raichur and used for the experiment. These seed lots were subjected to various seed vigour and viability tests. Statistically significant variation was found between the seed lots with respect to germination (%), radicle (2 mm) emergence time (hrs), mean seedling length (cm), mean seedling dry weight (mg), seedling vigour index-I, seedling vigour index-II . The field emergence percentage had the non-significant positive correlation (0.285) with seed germination test, followed by germination seedling factor and seedling vigour index-II (0.227). Significant positive correlation was found with seed germination and germination seedling factor (0.974) and seedling vigour index-II with seed germination percentage (0.974).
