Abstract:

The present experiment was conducted during kharif season of 2023-24 on field of Entomology section, College of Agriculture, Nagpur. The experiment was laid out in randomized block design with gross plot size 7 rows of 5.0 and net plot size 5 rows of 4.6 m with nine treatments along with the untreated control replicated thrice with the object to evaluate the efficacy of synthetic pyrethroid and neonicotinoid-based combination insecticides against pigeonpea pod fly, Melanagromyza obtusa. In evaluation nine different combination insecticides were tested against pod fly, Melanagromyza obtusa. The result revealed that the treatment having combination of Thiamethoxam 12.6% + Lambda-cyhalothrin 9.5% ZC @ 200 ml/500 lit. water emerged as the most effective combination against M. obtusa in minimizing the green pod damage. While, the other combinations such as Indoxacarb 10.0% + Thiamethoxam 10% WG, Cypermethrin 10%+ Indoxacarb 10% w/w SC, Fipronil 15% + Flonicamid 15% WDG and Pyriproxyfen 5% + Fenpropathrin 15% EC were found significantly effective in minimizing the infestation of pod fly, M. obtusa of pigeonpea. These finding indicate that the pigeonpea crop required two sprays of synthetic pyrethroid and neonicotinoid-based combination insecticides for the management of pigeonpea pod fly, Melanagromyza obtuse.
