Abstract:

A research trial was carried out in the experimental field at Instructional cum Horticulture Research Farm, Department of Horticulture, Mahatma Phule Krishi Vidyapeeth, Rahuri, Dist. Ahmednagar (MS), during the year 2023-24 to evaluate the performance of strawberry genotypes for the growth, yield and quality parameters of strawberry. For this purpose, eight strawberry genotypes viz., Camarosa, Winter Dawn, Nabila, Flaminia, Flavia, M-2, Murrano and Vivara were planted at spacing of 30 × 30 cm on raised bed of 3m ×1m ×0.45 m size and experiment was laid out in Randomized Block Design. The results of the study revealed that cv. Vivara produced higher vegetative growth with higher plant height (34.58 cm) and plant spread (E-W and N-S) (42.11 cm and 37.24 cm). cv. Winter dawn recorded maximum number of crowns per plant (6.1) and cv. Flaminia recorded maximum leaf area (115.06 cm2). Significant variation for early flowering (26 days), flowering duration (103.3 days), number of flowers per plant (27.00), number of fruits per plant (21.40) and highest fruit set percentage (79.28 %) was observed in cv. Winter Dawn. Maximum fruit weight (20.25 g) and fruit breadth (3.16 cm) was recorded in cv. Nabila and maximum fruit length (4.02 cm) was recorded in cv. M-2. cv. Winter Dawn recorded maximum harvesting duration (73.00 days), fruit yield per plant (0.345 kg), fruit yield per ha (17.27 t) and maximum shelf life (40.67 hours). The maximum TSS (11.55 °B), TSS: acidity ratio (11.34), total sugars (8.15 %) and reducing sugars (7.06 %) were recorded in cv. Flaminia. Minimum titratable acidity (0.95 %) was recorded in cv. Nabila whereas non-reducing sugars shown non-significant effect among the different genotypes.
