Abstract:

Since the COVID-19 epidemic has raised interest in immunity-boosting supplements worldwide, there is a greater need for goods that include extracts from reishi mushrooms. These supplements should see significant market expansion because of the many epidemiological and clinical studies that show they can improve both innate and adaptive immune responses against a variety of pathogens, including viruses. Due to the growing demand for natural health products and traditional medicinal components, the global market for Ganoderma lucidum, or reishi mushrooms, has experienced tremendous expansion. This increase represents a compound annual growth rate (CAGR) of 8.1%, with a market value of USD 3,096.9 million in 2019 and forecasts to reach USD 5,059.4 million during 2027.

Reishi mushrooms are a common component of functional foods and dietary supplements because of their well-known therapeutic benefits, which include increasing immunity, lowering fatigue, and enhancing general well-being. Bioactive chemicals found in abundance in Ganoderma lucidum have been linked to health advantages such immunological modulation, cancer prevention, and antioxidant properties. Improvements in cultivation methods that enable sustainable production and increased worldwide availability further assist the business. Even though there is a growing demand for items made from Ganoderma, issues such market accessibility, standardisation of cultivation methods, and product quality control still exist. Although Ganoderma lucidum has enormous potential for generating income, there are certain drawbacks as well. A window of opportunity has been established for the large-scale production and marketing of herbal and natural health products in India as a result of the pandemic's increased demand.
