Abstract:

The present investigation entitled “Effect of pruning time and intensity on yield parameters and economic returns of guava under HDP cv. Allahabad Safeda” was carried out at Fruit Research Station, Madhadibaug, College of Horticulture, Junagadh Agricultural University, Junagadh during the year 2024-25. The experiment was laid out in Randomized Block Design with Factorial concept consisting of three levels of both pruning time and pruning intensity, which were replicated three times. The results revealed that yield parameters were significantly influenced by the various levels of pruning time and pruning intensity. Pruning during first fortnight of May (T2) significantly maximum number of flowers per shoot (14.11), number of fruits per plant (110.28), yield per plant (14.11 kg), yield per hectare (11.75 tonnes) in guava. Regarding pruning intensity, the results were also recorded significant and maximum number of flowers per shoot (14.95), number of fruits per plant (109.83), yield per plant (13.98 kg), yield per hectare (11.71 tonnes) were recorded in 25 cm pruning intensity (I2). For interaction effect, maximum number of flowers per shoot (17.27), number of fruits per plant (119.50), yield per plant (16.13 kg), yield per hectare (13.43 tonnes) were recorded in pruning during first fortnight of May with 25 cm pruning intensity (T2I2) in guava. Economically, the maximum net returns (214147 ₹/ha) and BCR (1.13) was obtained in treatment combination of pruning during first fortnight of May with 25 cm pruning intensity (T2I2) in guava.
