Abstract:

Dolichos bean (Lablab purpureus L.), or dolichos bean, is a vital legume grown in tropical regions like India. Despite its nutritional and economic value, it remains underutilized due to low yield, long growth duration, and photosensitivity. This study evaluated the genetic diversity of 18 pole-type genotypes under Konkan conditions using ISSR markers. Conducted at Dapoli during rabi 2022-2024, the experiment followed a Randomized Block Design with two replications. ISSR analysis revealed 45.79% polymorphism, with UBC 881 showing the highest (65.26%) and UBC 886 the lowest (3.77%). Cluster analysis grouped genotypes into two major clusters, showing genetic variation. The study emphasizes using molecular markers for breeding and crop improvement.
