Impact of technological innovations on pest management practices

Insect pest management is an important component of global agricultural operations, maintaining food security and reducing economic losses. Traditional methods, while effective in some cases, frequently result in concerns such as insect resistance, environmental deterioration, and harm to non-target species. Modern and precision agriculture is continually growing, and technology has become an important tool for increasing crop yields and protecting plants from destructive insects and pests. This abstract examines cutting-edge developments in this sector, such as digital tools, biological interventions, and genetically modified solutions. The combination of remote sensing, artificial intelligence (AI), and Internet of Things (IoT) devices has enabled real-time pest monitoring and forecasting, allowing farmers to implement tailored interventions with minimal environmental impact. The introduction of technical breakthroughs has transformed insect pest management, providing more precise, long-term, and ecologically friendly solutions. Genetic modification, bio pesticides, remote sensing, artificial intelligence (AI), and integrated pest management (IPM) tactics are all examples of technological developments. Biotechnology innovations, particularly CRISPR-Cas9 and gene drive technologies have opened up new avenues for genetically changing pest behaviour or suppressing populations. The integration of digital, biological, and biotechnological techniques in insect pest management marks a paradigm change toward sustainability and precision agriculture. Future improvements are expected to substantially improve food security while minimizing environmental footprints, making innovative pest management technology a cornerstone of resilient agricultural systems.
