Abstract:

The field study on wheat varieties was carried out during the winter season of 2016-17 at the experimental website of Agroforestry Research Centre (old website), G.B. Pant Faculty of Technology and Agriculture, Pantnagar. The experiment was presented in split-plot layout with 3 replications having 3 major plots (open agriculture, poplar and eucalyptus agroforestry system) and 4 subplots (different wheat varieties 2526, UP-2628, UP-2565, DPW-621-50). Development and also yield characteristics of wheat like germination matter, grow level, the quantity of dry matter accumulation and tillers were higher under open farming method than agroforestry structure (Eucalyptus and poplar). Grain yield was much higher in wide-open farming (3.55t ha 1) process as compared to agroforestry process. Among wheat varieties, UP 2526 showed broader maximum level, the quantity of dry matter accumulation and tillers through the feed yield was drastically greater in UP 2628 (3.13t ha 1). The biological yield was much higher in UP 2628. Nevertheless, results showed yield and growth of wheat harvest was more significant under sole cropping and also poplar based agroforestry process than the eucalyptus primarily based agroforestry process.
