Abstract:

Laboratory studies were carried out to observe the susceptibility level of field collected populations of cowpea aphid, Aphis craccivora Koch collected from cowpea growing districts of Vidarbha region against recommended insecticides viz. Imidacloprid, Thiamethoxam, Flonicamid and Profenophos. Thiamethoxam showed maximum per cent mortality followed by Imidacloprid and were effective in managing the aphid populations as compared with that of other chemical treatments and proved successful in suppression of resistance. thiamethoxam exhibited the highest toxicity (0.09 ml/L), followed by imidacloprid (0.11 ml/L), flonicamid (0.22 ml/L), and profenophos (1.63 ml/L). The relative toxicity ranking of the insecticides was Thiamethoxam > Imidacloprid > Flonicamid > Profenophos. The LC90 values further confirmed these findings, with thiamethoxam and imidacloprid requiring the lowest concentrations to achieve 90 per cent mortality.
