Abstract:

Performance of different coloured sticky traps against aphids in Bt cotton was studied in a field experiment conducted in factorial randomized block design (RBD) using RCH-578 BGII genotype at College of Agriculture, Latur Farm, Maharashtra during Kharif 2022-23. The mean data of aphids (Aphis gossypii) population on different coloured sticky traps recorded at 7, 14, 21, 28, 35, 42, 49, 56, 63, 70, 77, 84, 91, 98, 105, 112, 119, 126, 133, 140, 147 and 154 DAS indicated that yellow colour sticky traps attracted more aphid population (31.35 aphids/trap) followed by blue colour sticky trap (25.44 aphids/trap) while least count was observed on white colour sticky traps (20.59 aphid/trap). Irrespective of colours, the trap installed at equal crop height recorded more number of aphids (27.86 aphids/trap) and least recorded at traps installed at ground level (24.35 aphids/trap). Interaction effect showed significant difference as yellow colour trap installed at equal crop height attracted more number of aphids (38.78 aphid/trap) and found to be superior compared to other colour traps and trap heights.
