Abstract:

An experiment was conducted to study the effect of dehanding and bunch spray of GA3 and CPPU on the quality of banana cv. Grand Naine at the Banana Research Station, Dr YSR Horticultural University, Pulivendula, A.P, India during 2023-24. Banana tissue culture plants were planted by following a Randomized Block Design with the factorial concept. The experiment included dehanding and growth regulator sprays as factors and 12 different treatment combinations. The maximum total soluble solids, TSS: acid ratio, total sugars, reducing sugars and minimum titratable acidity were observed in T2 (GA3 100 ppm + CPPU 4 ppm) and maximum non-reducing sugars in treatment T1 (GA3 50 ppm + CPPU 4 ppm). Among various levels of dehanding, D1 (8 hands per bunch after dehanding) showed minimum titratable acidity and maximum TSS: acid ratio. The combination of 8 hands per bunch after dehanding and bunch spray of GA3 100 ppm + CPPU 4 ppm (D1T2) produced the highest TSS: acid ratio (80.84) and total sugars (21.34%). The highest amount of reducing sugars (14.71%) was found in the treatment combination of 9 hands per bunch after dehanding and bunch spray of GA3 100 ppm + CPPU 4 ppm (D2T2). The highest non-reducing sugars (8.59%) was observed in dehanding to 9 hands per bunch and spraying with GA3 50 ppm + CPPU 4 ppm (D2T1).
