The present investigation was undertaken in the university of agricultural sciences, Bangalore during 2022-23 to study the effect of packaging material and storage conditions on keeping quality of jasmine flower. The treatment combination consists of four packaging materials such as CFB box with PE lining, bamboo basket with newspaper lining and nylon bag. These packages were stored for 20 days at a cold storage (5±2 °C) and for 4 days at ambient condition (27±2 °C). The study evaluated the effect of packaging material and storage temperature on quality parameters viz., physiological loss in weight, freshness index and microbial load of jasmine flower. The results showed that jasmine flower packed in CFB box with PE lining at 5±2 °C had shelf-life of 16 days, whereas flowers packed in bamboo basket with newspaper lining recorded only 8 days. Similarly, flowers packed in CFB box with PE lining at 27±2 °C had shelf-life of 4 days, whereas flowers packed in bamboo basket with newspaper lining recorded only 2 days. This research highlights the importance of packaging material and the storage period on keeping quality of jasmine flower.
