An experiment was conducted in Department of Fruit Science, College of Agriculture, Indira Gandhi Krishi Vishwavidyalaya Raipur (C.G.) during 2023-24 to enhanced physico-chemical composition and extend the shelf-life of papaya (Carica papaya L.) fruit. Under the present investigation, the packaging materials were used individually. The treatment T8 [Polythene bag (LDPE 200 guage)] were the most effective treatment for enhancing storage period and maintaining physico-chemical characteristics of papaya cv. Red Lady. The maximum retention of bio-chemical constitutes like total soluble solids, titrable acidity and ascorbic acid content was obtained in fruits treated with Polythene bag LDPE 200 guage along with increased shelf-life up to 18th day storage period of papaya fruits. Also, the same treatment has been recorded maximum fruit weight (1213.33 g), fruit length (20.07 cm) and fruit diameter (11.02 cm) at 18 DAS under ambient condition. Organoleptic evaluation of papaya fruits was registered highest score for texture (4.13), taste (4.21) and flavour (4.10) under the treatment T8 [Polythene bag (LDPE 200 guage)].
