To analyse the trend and growth rate in area, production and productivity of major spices crops in northern hills zone of Chhattisgarh

Abstract:
The study was undertaken to study the trend and growth rate of area, production and productivity of spices crops in northern hills zone of Chhattisgarh. The study was based on secondary data from 2004-05 to 2020-21. The data was collected from officials site of the Chhattisgarh agriculture development and farmer welfare and bio- technology department. In the case of northern hills zone of Chhattisgarh, growth rates in the area and production of turmeric (7.49,7.24 percent), ginger (4.65,5.11 percent), and coriander (5.94,5.86 percent) were observed as positive and non-significant and productivity was observed found in negative and significant. While the growth rate in the area, production and productivity of garlic (0.63, 1.29, 0.26 percent), chilli (1.48, 3.60, 2.73 percent), other spices (2.90, 6.78, 3.96 percent) and total spices (3.36, 4.09, 0.89 percent) were observed as positive and non significant.
