Abstract:
An experiment on the bio-efficacy of bio-rational pesticides against insect pests infesting black gram (Var. Indira urd Pratham) was conducted at Agronomy farm, RMD College of Agriculture and Research Station Ambikapur (C.G.) during Kharif, 2023. The experiment was laid out in a randomized block design with three replications in uniformly sized plots. Various bio-rational insecticides, viz. Neem Seed Kernel Extract (NSKE) 5 percent, Beauveria bassiana 1.15%, Metarhizium anisopilae 2%, Karanj oil 1-3%, Neem oil 2% and Indoxacarb 14.5% SC were investigated to manage the population of pod borer as well as spotted pod borer. The most effective bio-rational insecticide in managing the borers was indoxacarb followed by Beauveria bassiana. Per cent reduction of both borers, over untreated plot after final sprays was followed this order of efficacy; indoxacarb (8.80 q/ha) > Beauveria bassiana (8.10 q/ha) > Metarhizium anisopilae (7.64 q/ha) > NSKE (7.38 q/ha) > neem oil (6.85 q/ha). Karanj oil was found to be least effective. Highest cost benefit ratio (1:2.6) was observed in the plot treated with indoxacarb
