Abstract:

The laboratory experiments were conducted to study the biology of Callosobruchus chinensis Linnaeus on different varieties of green gram viz., DSPS 6-13, CD 6-52, D-SPS-6, SPS-6-10, BM-2003-2, CD 6-53, BM-2002-1 under laboratory conditions at the Post Graduate Laboratory, Department of Agril. Entomology, College of Agriculture, Latur during 2023-24. The higher mean incubation period (6.20 days) was observed in BM-2003-2 and the shortest incubation period (4.89 days) in BM-2002-1. The highest larval-pupal duration was noticed on SPS-6-10 (26.33 days) and the shortest on BM-2002-1 (24.24 days). The highest adult emergence (72.00 percent) was observed on BM-2002-1 and the lowest in SPS-6-10 (58 percent). The highest adult longevity of male C. chinensis was registered in SPS-6-10 (9.98 days) and lowest were observed in BM-2002-1 (8.08 days). The maximum adult longevity of female was recorded in CD 6-52 (13.07 days) and the minimum were noticed in BM-2003-2 (10.33 days). The highest sex ratio of C. chinensis was registered in SPS-6-10 (1:1.14) and lowest sex ratio was observed in BM-2002-1 (1:1.05).
