Abstract:

The aim of the investigation was to assess the effect of gibberellic acid on growth and yield of China aster. The investigation was undertaken at the Main Agriculture Research Station, UAS, Dharwad during 2021-22. The analysis of variance revealed the existence of significant amount of variation for the traits studied. All the parameters showed significantly higher value for different combinations of GA3 treatment as well as interaction between the varieties and GA3 treatments. Among different treatment combinations, Phule Ganesh Pink when treated with GA3 at 200 ppm recorded significantly higher values for plant height (73.90 cm), number of primary branches (26.55), number of flowers per plant (33.80), average weight of flowers per plant (130.95 g), number of flowers per meter square area (289.80), flower yield (12.50 t/ha). Less number of primary branches were recorded in Phule Ganesh Pink without GA3 spray (13.30) whereas, plant height (30.50 cm), number of flowers per plant (21.20), average weight of flowers per plant (38.70 g), number of flowers per meter square area (117.00) and flower yield (4.30 t/ha) was recorded minimum in Phule Ganesh Violet without GA3 spray. Study revealed that use of GA3 at 200 ppm on Phule Ganesh Pink performed better for all the parameters compared to other treatment combinations in China aster varieties.
