Abstract:

Present study on seasonal incidence of okra jassid, Amrasca biguttula biguttula Ishida and its correlation with weather parameters was carried out at the research farm of Entomology section, College of Agriculture, Nagpur (Dr. PDKV, Akola) during kharif-2023 and rabi 2023. The data on seasonal abundance of okra jassid revealed higher severity of jassid in rabi season than kharif season. In kharif-2023 population peak of 4.8 jassid/leaf was recorded during 42nd Standard Meteorological Week (SMW) whereas, peak jassid population was observed in 1st SMW during rabi-2023.

Study on effect of various weather parameters on the abundance of jassid on okra during kharif 2023 indicated that the weather parameters like rainfall (r=-0.562*), wind speed (r=-0.595*) and evening relative humidity (-0.739**) were negatively correlated with jassid population in a significant manner, whereas, bright sunshine hours (BSH) revealed a positive correlation (r=0.613*). During rabi season, the maximum temperature (r=-0.827**), morning relative humidity (r=-0.738**) and evening relative humidity (r=-0.727**) were negatively correlated with jassid population on okra.
