Abstract:

The present investigation aimed to estimate the correlation between the biochemical and mineral composition of brinjal with the Leucinodes orbonalis Guenee. Eight morphologically diverse brinjal genotypes were used for hybridization following half diallel mating design to obtain 28 hybrids. Evaluation of hybrids along with the eight parents and two standard hybrid checks i.e., Krishna and Phule Arjun was conducted in two different seasons (kharif and summer) followed by randomized block design with two replications at AICRP on Vegetable crops, MPKV, Rahuri. Among parents, Ruchira (P1) showed least shoot borer infestation and P3 noted least fruit borer infestation. Considering hybrid combinations, P5 x P6 (RHRBR-54 x RHRBR-74) recorded least shoot and fruit borer infestation. Correlation results indicated that P, Ca, Mg, Fe, phenols and crude fiber exhibited a clear negative significant correlation between with shoot and fruit infestation on number basis in both kharif and summer season. Although, N, K, Zn, total sugars, reducing sugars, non-reducing sugars and chlorophyll showed significantly positive correlation with shoot and fruits infestation in kharif and summer season.
