The present study was conducted in Line x Tester mating design using 66 hybrids and 17 parents to estimate the combining ability effects for yield and architectural traits in mungbean. Combining ability analysis indicated the preponderance of non-additive gene action for all the traits studied. Considering the per se performance and gca effects, PKVM-8802 and BM-2003-2 were adjudged as best parent for yield improvement and IPM-2-14 was found to be the good general combiner with high gca effect for most of the traits considered in the study. Crosses such as (TAKM-140 x IPM-2-14), (PKVM-8802 x IPM-2-14), and (PKVM-8802 x BM-2003-2) demonstrate promising potential for improving seed yield and seed weight, making them suitable candidates for further breeding programs aimed at improving mungbean varieties
