Abstract:

The adoption of innovations and Precision Agriculture Technologies (PAT) is fundamental for establishing the patterns of agricultural production. With the progress and application of information technology in agriculture, precision farming (PF) has been increasingly gaining attentions worldwide. However, the dynamics of adoption of PAT by farmers differs by regions. Although a large number of related researches are done, but there are considerable gaps in the literature: studies on adoption of PAT can be systematically reviewed and integrated in a conceptual model of technology adoption by rural producers, which still lacking in the literature. Thus, the main objective of this paper is to perform a systematic literature review of studies on determinants of adoption of PAT and to build a conceptual framework that consolidates the determinants of adoption of PAT by farmers. Early interventions to prevent the occurrence of unwanted events with the ability to monitor crops in all stages of production, from tillage to post harvest, are provided by using various methods, such as remote sensing and geographic information systems (RS & GIS). In addition to the economic and environmental impacts of precision agriculture, expanding farmer’s awareness through the use of modern technologies and the integration of scattered lands to achieve sustainability by enhancing social impacts of precision agriculture.
