Abstract:
The current investigation aimed to examine the serum testosterone levels in pubertal Marwari rams were administered an ethanolic dry extract of Moringa oleifera leaves (MOLEE). A total of 24 pubertal rams, aged 7-8 months with an average body weight of 28 kg, were carefully chosen and divided into four experimental groups, each consisting of six rams. Group C received a standard diet without any MOLEE supplement, while groups T1, T2, and T3 were provided with the same standard diet along with MOLEE at doses of 40, 80, and 160 mg/kg body weight respectively, for a duration of 90 days. Blood samples were collected every two weeks, and the serum was separated and stored at -20 °C for testosterone analysis using vitros immunodiagnostic testosterone kits. The findings revealed that the testosterone concentration was significantly (p<0.05) higher in groups T3, T2, and T1 compared to group C. This study demonstrates that Moringa oleifera leaf extract can serve as a beneficial feed supplement, enhancing sexual maturity and testosterone levels in pubertal Marwari rams.
