Abstract: Medicinal plants are those that have curative qualities or have positive pharmacological effects on the human body. Herbal-drug interactions are more likely when medicinal plants are taken at the same time as prescription medications. The specific plant, medicine, and patient profile all influence how clinically significant herbal-drug interactions are. As they alter bodily processes, herbs have the potential to be powerful. As herbal medicines and supplements are not subject to NAFDAC assessment, using them can be harmful. We attempt to explore potential causes, kinds, and reported examples of toxicities associated with the use of herbal therapy alone as well as some herbal drug interactions. Additionally, several strategies to lessen the negative effects of herbal medicines have been discussed.
